McCaffery Interests Inc. has been tapped to redevelop the Children’s Memorial Hospital property in Lincoln Park after the hospital moves downtown.
The project at the six-acre campus, located at the intersection of Halsted Street and Lincoln and Fullerton avenues, could bring hundreds of new homes and a slew of stores to the well-heeled North Side neighborhood.
McCaffery is proposing a mixed-use development, including primarily residential and retail space, that’s intended to become the “town center” of Lincoln Park, the hospital said in a news release Thursday. Children’s, which made the announcement after months of vetting developers, is moving downtown next June to a new, 23-story tower.
